Easton man pinched between machinery at Atlantic States, officials say
An Easton man was injured in an industrial accident in Phillipsburg, Warren Co., N.J., on Tuesday, officials said.
Raymundo Perez was working on a machine at Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company in the 100 block of Sitgraves Street shortly before 11 a.m. when he became pinched in the machinery, said Chief James Faulborn, Phillipsburg Police Dept.
Rescue crews were able to free Perez, 33, and rush him to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill, Lehigh Co., said Faulborn. According to the hospital, he is listed in fair condition.
Atlantic States released a statement saying: "We have notified his family and we are doing all that we can to ensure that he receives the best treatment possible."
The company also said this is the first injury at Atlantic States since January 1, 2013, and last year its injury rates were 73% below the industry averages.
The Warren County prosecutor's office and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration were notified of the accident, said Faulborn, who noted that the incident remains under investigation.
