Sunday morning, a woman who's served a Bethlehem church for the past 23 years took part in her last service.
Reverend Edith B. Roberts has been pastor at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem for 23 years.
But, she decided that after serving the faith for the past 33 years, it was finally time to retire.
Her last service was Sunday morning and hundreds of people she baptized, married, and served each week were there to celebrate with her.
"This has been a wonderful ministry, being one of the early pioneers of the ordination of women and being able to stand up and preach and teach and care for people. I've been thankful for that," said Rev. Roberts.
Rev. Roberts was the only female Senior Pastor of a large Lutheran congregation in all of Northeastern Pennsylvania
