They've been practicing for weeks, putting in hours every single day-- all to get ready for one very special performance.

"I'm like very excited," said Genesis Tejada,smiling. "I just don't know what to expect."

"We're going to perform some songs and they going to basically give us feedback about how we could be better," explained Ariel Delgado.

"Showing that we're good enough to go to Washington to sing is a big accomplishment," shared Anais Martinez.

In January the Roberto Clemente Charter School choir will be making the trip from Allentown to our nation's capital. Once there, they'll join other bands, choruses and orchestras at the Presidential Inauguration Festival. It only happens once every four years when the President is sworn in.

"I felt this was a really great opportunity for them to learn about Washington, D.C., to learn about the government," said Music Director Marissa Iezzi.

The 10th through 12th grade students will get reviewed by nationally renowned judges. Then they get to watch the presidential inauguration and address in person.

"I'm stuck at home all the time so going out to D.C. is an honor to be able to do something that great," expressed Luis Melendez.

The 27 high schoolers will also get the chance to tour the city and see museums.

"New York City would be the place to go as performers," said Iezzi. "This is where you go as Americans, and this is an extremely important performance."

The choir has its winter concert Thursday night then it's crunch time to prepare for the three day trip to D.C.
