This very snowy winter has seen its share of roofs sagging and collapsing under the weight of snow and ice. There were several incidents reported across the Lehigh Valley Tuesday alone.
Workers with Diamond Quality Construction were atop the WFMZ studios Tuesday, clearing snow to take stress off the building.
"We are shoveling to alleviate some of the weight on your roof," said Shane Reitz.
He said business has been picking up.
"Roof clearing and a lot of leaks. We're getting a lot of calls to come fix leaks but we're kind of stuck with roofs being snowed over."
69 News saw other crews clearing off tops of buildings, which is something to consider to avoid damage and serious repairs. There have recently been several incidents across the region including with barn roofs and business roofs.
"Actually my pastor had a cave-in this past week and his car was under it," said Reitz.
"A foot and a half or more I would call and at least have it checked on," he said. "If you hear creaks and cracks and what not, get someone there as soon as possible."
Emergency management officials remind homeowners it can be dangerous to remove snow from your roof by yourself and it's a good idea to rely on professionals.
