SEIU critical of water lease plan

The union representing Allentown's water and sewer workers claims Mayor Ed Pawlowski is failing to keep his promise to protect their pensions.

The union is citing a water and sewer lease proposal it claims would eliminate pension protections.

The union says the proposal's wording could make it possible for workers to receive no pension.

Pawlowski responded with a statement saying the proposal does in fact provide for a fair retirement plan.

He says the agreement would also guarantee every employee a job at their current rate of pay.
