The head of a Lehigh County school district has died.

Robert Gross passed away earlier this week at St. Luke's Hospice House. He had been the superintendent of schools in the Salisbury Township School District since 2010.

Before that, Gross was superintendent in the Kutztown Area School District.

Gross was 54-years-old.

The Salisbury School Board is expected to vote on an interim superintendent in the coming weeks.
