PALMER TWP., Pa. -

A residential request for more street signs on Norton Avenue in Palmer Township was granted Monday.

The Board of Supervisors approved two speed limit signs, one on each side of the road, to be placed on Norton Ave. west of Loomis Street.

The Traffic and Safety Committee, who recommended it to the board, reviewed the residents’ petition.

The residents of the street requested either a speed limit sign or a watch children sign to be placed on the road. Traffic gets heavy on the side street during the weekends when people try to divert from the local church traffic, officials said.

The Palmer police chief stated the road is “only two blocks long, [drivers] can’t really go that fast that far. It doesn’t make a difference which sign.”

The Township chose speed limit signs because they are easier to enforce and also continue with the uniformity within the Township.
