Snowboarding going downhill in popularity
Sunday's weather held picture perfect conditions for people on the slopes. But a surprising trend is hitting ski resorts…Snowboarding is declining in popularity.
Boarding became all the rage two decades ago with its edgey attitude and bad-boy image. Now a days, winter sports lovers are looking for other alternatives.
"Snowboarding has been on the decline in popularity for about the last 7 or 8 years now," said Bear Creek Ski Resort's Rental Manager Jeffrey Zellner.
"It became a very mainstream sport. Where it used to have a an edge that was sort of like a counter-culture."
At one point, a third of Bear Creek's visitors were snowboarders. Officials say that number is going downhill fast.Â
