UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. -

A 'wave' of construction workers will soon start building a new Ocean Spray plant in Lehigh County.

On Thursday, Upper Macungie Township Supervisors unanimously approved a plan for the Ocean Spray plant.

The township Planning Committee approved the plans last month.

Kathy Rader, assistant community development director for Upper Macungie Township says the township wants to get started on the development as soon as possible, and traffic mitigation studies will begin soon.

The plant will be located at the intersection of Schantz Road and Route 100.

The company is relocating its bottling operation from New Jersey to the Lehigh Valley.

The new plant is expected to employ about 165 people.

Officials say the new plant should be up and running by the end of 2013.
