A teenager who was sending text messages on a home computer against her mother's wishes is in trouble with the law for allegedly assaulting her sister.
Kayla E. Edinger was arrested Friday night at her home at 5514 Shawnee Dr., East Allen Twp., Northampton Co., after punching her 14-year-old sister in the back, shoulder and arms and biting her hard enough on the left arm to draw blood, officials said.
Edinger, 18, was angry that the 14-year-old girl told their mom that she was sending text messages to her friends on the home computer, which her mother had forbidden, officials said.
Police were called to the home by the mother, Judy Edinger, who told them Kayla had struck her on the arm when she tried to stop the fight, officials said.
Kayla Edinger was arraigned on assault and harassment charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $1,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. next Monday, Aug. 13.
