Travel Channel show spotlights Celtic Classic, Hellertown pub

For the second straight week, the national spotlight is shining on Hellertown.

A new show on The Travel Channel called "Edge of America" is featuring a local bar and its old country delicacy .

Plenty of people were excited to see their local watering hole on The Travel Channel.
The owner of Braveheart says it's great exposure for the area.

Being on The Travel Channel was such a honor for Andy Lee, owner of Braveheart Highland Pub, that he stopped the weekly trivia game so everyone could watch.

"National exposure is great," added Lee. "We are a unique pub. We are a Scottish pub. Very rare you can say that in this day and age."

The pub is featured on the show "Edge of America."

The show's host paid a visit before entering the haggis-eating competition at the Celtic Classic.

"This is a new show so he wanted to see what was in it before he went to eat it and that's how we got on the program," said Lee.

"It really puts the spotlight on arts and culture programs that take place here throughout the year," said Mark Demko, spokesperson for ArtsQuest.

Demko says being featured on national television gets more people to attend events like the Celtic Classic each year.

And he says it's fun to meet people who say the reason they came is because of a certain TV show.

"It does help build exposure and awareness not only for the city of Bethlehem, but for the entire region," added Demko.

Braveheart Highland Pub is glad to be part of the region because it's good for everyone to share the spotlight.

"I think there is a lot more here in Hellertown than people give it credit for," said Lee.

The hope is that a lot more people will be making their way to Braveheart.

They say haggis is on the menu four times a year.  The next time will be on St. Patrick's Day.
