Another deadly accident has snarled eastbound traffic on Interstate 78.
The accident Monday morning happened between the Lynnport/New Smithfield and Route 100 interchanges in Lehigh County.
A tractor trailer driven by James Sherry entered the right lane of I-78 East from the right shoulder, according to police reports.
Sherry's truck traveled about three-quarters of a mile before being hit from behind by another tractor trailer, driven by Lucas Cramer, police said.
After impact, the two trucks traveled about 300 feet southeast across the south shoulder of the highway and down an embankment, police said.
Cramer's truck caught fire. Cramer, 31, of Duncannon, Pa., died at the scene, officials said. Sherry was not injured.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Tpr. DeAngeles at the Fogelsville barracks at 610-395-1433.
Last Friday, a deadly accident involving a pickup truck and a tractor trailer closed a stretch of I-78 East in Berks County for about four hours.
