An African man who was schooled in the Lehigh Valley is back with a higher purpose.

Nii Guate Asuasa II  met the media today.  He came to Easton last Friday, and he'll be visiting the region for the next two weeks.

You may know him better as John Quartey an Easton Area High School graduate.

He's now the chief or, as he says, the King of the Ga Kingdom of Ghana.  And now, he's here on a mission to keep the peace in Ghana.

"So, as a country, as a people we have a come along.  We have had tribal differences, we fought tribal wars, but we also have come together in the past 50-plus years to form a democracy that is thriving," said Asuasa.

Asuasa is visiting with politicians while he is here to advocate for free elections in Ghana in December.
