SALISBURY TWP., Pa. -

Another local school district is facing cases of whooping cough, this one in Lehigh County.

According to the Salisbury Township School District website, two cases of whooping cough have been confirmed.

School officials said on Feb. 2 one person had whooping cough at Harry S. Truman Elementary School.

On Jan. 26, one person may have exposed children to whooping cough at Western Salisbury Elementary School.

Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is a highly contagious disease spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
