WILSON, Pa. -

A police force in Northampton County is mourning the loss of one of its K-9 officers.

According to the Wilson Police Department's Facebook page, Ofc. Mike Potope had to put down his K-9 partner, Axel, on Thursday.

"He was a loyal partner and will be greatly missed," the post said.

Potope and Axel were a team for about nine years.
