Bangor police make arrest in Jesus vandalism

BANGOR, Pa. -

Bangor police have charged a teenage woman with the vandalism of a Baby Jesus statue from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Police said Elizabeth Bossert, 18, of Bangor was charged in the incident in late January.

Bossert is facing one count of institutional vandalism and one count of criminal mischief.

The Baby Jesus statue was found hanging from a tree just shortly after Christmas, with satanic symbols written all over it.

The incident caused outrage from residents in the borough, and even prompted council to offer a reward for information leading to an arrest.

Police said Bossert's preliminary hearing is scheduled later this month.
