ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

The city of Allentown Health Bureau and its “Million Clicks for a Million Heart Campaign” received a $10,000 award.

It is one of 50 members of the HealthyCommunity50 in the Healthiest Cities and Counties Challenge to receive the cash.

The American Public Health Association, the National Association of Counties and the Aetna Foundation, sponsors of the Challenge, announced the finalists and seed award winners Thursday.

Because Allentown is participating in the challenge, it is in the running to receive $500,000 to support the campaign.

Allentown officials say the “Million Hearts Initiative” aims to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017 by helping members of the community live healthy lifestyles.
