Carlos W. Cruz faces felony drug charges
Heroin, marijuana and cash confiscated by police
A Whitehall Township man has been charged with drug offenses in an investigation that resulted in law enforcement authorities seizing heroin with a street value of more than $25,000, $4,000 in cash, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Carlos W. Cruz, 40, of 5108 Saylor Park Drive, Apartment 10, was charged Friday with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin and marijuana and misdemeanor charges of possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested by a detective with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force.
Chief Detective Joseph P. Stauffer said the arrest was the result of a two-month investigation that is continuing.
The Drug Task Force was assisted by the Whitehall Township Police Department and the Allentown Police Department.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Drug Task Force:
At 7:24 a.m. Friday, a search warrant was executed at Cruz’s residence. Detectives seized 90 grams of loose heroin, 100 bags of packaged heroin, 5 ounces of marijuana, scales, hundreds of empty heroin bags and other packaging materials, and $4,000 in cash.
After being arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Faulkner, Cruz was incarcerated in Lehigh County Prison. Bail was set at $250,000.
