EASTON, Pa. -

The Easton Area School District is sending out notices to teachers who may be affected by layoffs, but officials said it's not time to panic just yet.

The district is currently weighing four options to balance its budget. One of the scenarios would eliminate re than 70 positions.

The district recently handed out letters notifying employees that they may be affected if the positions are cut, but officials said the letters are just a courtesy and the layoffs would be determined by seniority and certification.
