Authorities charged an Easton teenager with child rape after investigators allegedly recovered videos from his cell phone of him having sex with a 3-year-old girl.
Police arrested Courtney A. Thompson Jr., of West Wilkesbarre Street, on Thursday and charged him with two counts each of rape of child and aggravated indecent assault of a child and a single count of child pornography. District Judge James Narlesky arraigned the 19-year-old Thursday night, setting bail at $500,000.
Police began their investigation in June, when the girl’s mother reported allegedly finding a video of the girl on Thompson’s cell phone. The victim was known to Thompson. Police said the video depicts him performing a sex act on the girl, according to court records.
Investigators confiscated the phone at which point Thompson allegedly admitted to deleting the video.
A forensic analysis of Thompson’s phone allegedly turned up three videos. During an interview with police, he allegedly admitted to raping the child and making a fourth video shot in the Walmart parking off Route 248 in Lower Nazareth Township.
Thompson failed to post bail and was sent to Northampton County Prison. His next court date is a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for Sept. 22.
