Family and friends remember the 3 killed in Easton fire
Two victims - cousins Joy Lolzier and David Strickland -- had endured tragedy before.
We're learning more about the three victims of Monday's fire in Easton.
Two had overcome tragedy before and now friends and family say they can't believe they're gone.
Family members have been gathered at the home for hours.
Some holding candles, others clutching pictures.
The group then moved to this Dunkin Donuts on the south side of Easton.
Everyone saying they can't believe this happened.
Flickers of light shine on the faces that mourn for three people who died on Spring Garden Street Monday morning.
"It happened so fast," said David Strickland, brother of James Strickland.
Family members of James Strickland say he didn't live here at the home, but was visiting his cousin Joy Lozier.
"He was a loving brother trying to survive on these streets," added David Strickland. "Caring for his family, loving character."
In 2008, Strickland had to bury his three year old son, Elijah, who was beaten and killed by his mother's boyfriend.
Joy Lozier also knew the pain of losing a loved one, at 17, her mother died in an apartment fire in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
"My prayers go out to her family and friends," said Katelyn Kline, store manager at Dunkin Donuts. "She was a good person."
People working and stopping at the Dunkin Donuts where Joy Lozier worked say the day has been very rough.
"Our employees are really upset," added Kline. "The one girl, she actually ran into the back crying hysterically."
Lozier's son, 4-year-old Makai Peter, also died in the fire.
Many say they need to remember the good times.
And coming together will help them heal.
"She's in a better place now," added Darren Morris, an employee that worked with Lozier the night before the fire."But we still wish she was here with us."
"It's hard to even cope with this," said Strickland. "Like I said it feels like a dream right now."
Employees of Dunkin Donuts are collecting funds at both Easton locations to help with funeral expenses.
