ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

For all the times you've craved bacon mid-run, the IronPigs presents the inaugural Bacon 5K Challenge.

Runners will stop midway through the 5K to devour a half-pound of bacon before finishing the last 2.5 kilometers.

This "bacon-infused two-day event" takes place the weekend of September 19 and 20 at Coca-Cola Park, according to a release from the IronPigs.

The 5K Challenge starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 19 and is followed by a post-race party until 9 p.m. with live entertainment, beverages and, of course, more bacon.

Registration for the race, which costs $45, ends September 12, though if you sign up before August 15, you get a free bacon race t-shirt.

The day after the race, a Bacon & Brews Bash will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the field at Coca-Cola Park and will include a large variety of local craft beers. Tickets cost $40 for a the four-hour unlimited tasting event, of $50 per person for a VIP extra hour beginning at noon. Designated drivers' tickets cost only $5 and includes complimentary soda offerings.
