Hundreds of students from around the region are spending some of their summer vacation in the classroom.

Lehigh County Technical Institute's summer fun camp kicked off Tuesday.

The students will spend the session learning about different trade areas, as well as science, technology, engineering and math.

Camp organizers said the program helps students choose career pathways.

"To know exactly about what opportunities are out there, what should the students take in high school, with their programs of study, and how they want to follow maybe into college or to learn more about their trade areas," said Rita Tatusko, the camp's coordinator.

One of the classes offered is racing engineering. Students at the camp were able to check out a real race car Tuesday.
