Letter carriers to help 'Stamp Out Hunger' on Saturday
Postal carriers around the region will be making some very special deliveries this weekend.
Officials announced plans Friday for the 21st annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
You can leave non-perishable food items on your door step for postal carriers to pick up when they deliver the mail Saturday.
The collected food will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Organizers said it's a great way for the community to come together to help needy families.
"There are so many amazing people that actually come and volunteer on that day that, that's what makes it really work. A lot of unsung heroes in this food drive," said Frank Kelly, letter carrier.
Last year, the letter carriers collected more than 370,000 pounds of food to donate to Second Harvest, and they hope to break that record this weekend.
