Authorities have identified the woman who died after being found shot outside a home in Lehigh County early Tuesday morning.
Stephanie Roof, 46, was found shot in the driveway of her home in the 6400 block of Pine Crest Lane in Lower Macungie Township, according to the coroner.
State police said Roof was the mother of two teenage children.
Someone who lives on the street called police shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday. When troopers arrived, they found Roof suffering from a gunshot wound, according to officials. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Police said the killing does not appear to be random, however, no arrests have been made.
State police also told 69 News on Wednesday that Roof's estranged husband is not considered a person of interest.
A forensic unit was on scene Wednesday afternoon and troopers closed Pine Crest Lane as they continued their investigation. They are working to determine the trajectory of the bullet that claimed Roof's life.
“It's kind of shocking for us that this thing’s happened because it’s a really nice neighborhood,” said Pearley Bauer, who moved into the neighborhood over the summer.
A neighbor described Roof as a nice woman. Pastor Jim Brashear with Bethany United Methodist Church said Roof worked with the church’s youth ministry.
A 69 News crew at the scene said detectives were investigating a neighbor's house, as well.
Police said they expect to be on the scene through Thursday.
