An inter-departmental memo is shedding some light on the accusations against a Bethlehem police officer.
Ofc. Richard Hoffman was put on paid leave after he was charged with driving under the influence following an off-duty crash in August.
Earlier this month, a letter was sent to city council on behalf of the city's police chief, recommending that Hoffman be fired.
The specifics of the recommendation were released Tuesday. The chief said the latest incident is Hoffman's fourth off-duty alcohol-related incident over his 10 year career with the Bethlehem Police Department.
Hoffman's attorney has not yet returned our call for comment. City council is expected to address the chief's recommendation at its meeting next week.
