UPPER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. -

A Northampton County police sergeant was honored for going above and beyond the call of duty Wednesday.

Bethlehem Township Police Sergeant Richard Blake was presented with the Nathan Ogden award at a ceremony in Upper Nazareth Township.

The award is handed out each year to a police official who risks his or her life for the safety of others.

Those who work with Sergeant Blake say the award is well deserved.

"We're fortunate this year that it's Sergeant Blake. But any of you who have worked with the sergeant know of his determination, his pride, his integrity, and it's an honor to work with him," Bethlehem Township Police chief Daniel Pancoast said.

Sergeant Blake has been with the Bethlehem Township Police Department since 1991 and currently heads the major crimes unit.
