LOWER MILFORD TWP., Pa. -

Efforts will be underway next week to beef up a Lehigh County stream.

Starting on Monday, the Lehigh County Conservation District, in partnership with PA Fish & Boat Commission, Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, and Perkiomen Valley Trout Unlimited will being work to restore a section of the Hosensack Creek.

The groups will install fish habitat structures, remove existing dams and stabilize stream banks.

The project site is located at the PPL substation on Palm Road in Lower Milford Township.

According to county conservation officials, restoration efforts like this will enhance fish, aquatic and wildlife habitat, while expanding wild trout populations.

By reducing sediment and other pollutants entering this section of the creek, overall water quality will improve in the Perkiomen Creek watershed.

The project is funded by a Growing Greener Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
