PEN ARGYL, Pa. -

Police are searching for a Northampton County man who is accused of hitting and choking a woman earlier this month.

Slate Belt Regional police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Paul Nicholas Volpe, 37, of Pen Argyl, on aggravated assault and related charges in connection with a domestic incident in the 200 block of Walters Avenue in Pen Argyl.

Police said they responded to the report of a domestic assault on September 12. Volpe is accused of punching, kicking and choking the victim, before she ran to a nearby home.

Volpe left before the police arrived, according to investigators.

Police said that New Jersey records show an active warrant for Volpe exists for a weapons offense in Paterson.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Slate Belt Regional Police Department at 610-759-8517.
