Police: Marcus Vallejo's refusal to sit down forces evacuation of 30 LANTA passengers
Vallejo alaso threatened driver, resisted arrest, police say
A man threatened a LANTA bus driver after causing a disturbance that required the evacuation of 30 passengers, officials said.
Marcus J. Vallejo told bus driver Wayne Williams, "I'll remember your face," as police escorted Vallejo off a bus stopped near Gresham Street and Stefko Boulevard around 5:40 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Williams told police he had to stop the bus because Vallejo began ranting when he asked him to sit down, officials said, noting that LANTA rules do not allow passengers to stand if there are open seats.
Williams unloaded his 30 other passenger on to another bus because the disturbance caused him to miss his stop times, officials added.
Vallejo scuffled with officers when they tried to put him in handcuffs, officials said.
Vallejo, 29, of 2180 Johnston Drive, Bethlehem, was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $7,500 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Sept. 18.
