LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. -

For a third day, investigators were back on the scene of a homicide in Lehigh County.

It has been three days since state police first dispatched to a home on Pine Crest Lane, just off of WIllow Lane, in Lower Macungie Township.

When troopers arrived around 1 a.m. Tuesday, they found 46-year-old Stephanie Roof in the driveway, suffering from a single gunshot wound. She died at the hospital a short time later.

"It's shocking when we heard that somebody got shot," said Pearley Bauer, who lives nearby.

Neighbors said Roof lived at the home with her two teenage children and was estranged from her husband. It's not known who was home at the time of the shooting, but police said the husband is not a person of interest.

Investigators also said they do not believe the shooting was random and maintained there's no threat to neighbors.

Meanwhile, those who live close by said they can't believe such a thing happened in their own backyard.

"It's kinda like shocking for us that this thing happened, because it's a really nice neighborhood until that," Bauer said.
