A man pushed and choked his pregnant girlfriend because she communicated with another man, officials said.
Ted A. Gava attacked his girlfriend, who is seven months pregnant with his child, in an attic bedroom of the home they share in the 700 block of William Street in Pen Argyl, Northampton Co., during an argument around 10 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Gava, angry that his girlfriend had communicated with another man, first shoved her onto a bed, and when she tried to leave the bedroom about 20 minutes later, he grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against a wall, officials said.
Gava released the woman when his sister-in-law, Marnie Gava, interrupted the confrontation, they added.
Gava, 21, was arraigned early Tuesday morning on charges of assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 31.
