EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -

A pro wrestler-turned actor with ties to our area has joined forces with New Jersey's governor to help give the state's economy a lift.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford Thursday with Governor Chris Christie to announce that WrestleMania is coming to New Jersey on April 7, 2013.

Also present were WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and 'The Rock's' opponent, John Cena.

Officials say the event is expected to generate more than $62 million of business for the state.

"My goal right now is to make WrestleMania XXVIII the greatest WrestleMania of all time," said Johnson. "I will also come to WrestleMania XXIX, and I will electrify MetLife Stadium like never before."

Johnson played football for Freedom High School in the 1980s.
