16-yr-old dies of gunshot wound in Hunterdon County, N.J.

A 16-year-old who suffered a gunshot wound has died of his injuries.

The incident happened late Sunday night, according to a news release from the Hunterdon County, N.J. prosecutor's office.

The boy, from Tewksbury Twp., died at noon Monday from a gunshot wound he sustained while handling a firearm in his home, officials said.

"The circumstances surrounding the weapon discharge continue to be investigated,” said Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III.

The boy's name has not been released.
