Appeals court sides with Hunterdon, N.J., hospital in lawsuit
An appeals court has sided with Hunterdon Medical Center in a lawsuit filed by the family of a 14-year-old female volunteer who had sex with a 19-year-old male employee.
The court sided with a lower court which cleared the Raritan Twp. hospital of wrongdoing.
The girl and young man began a secret sexual relationship in 2003 on and off hospital grounds that lasted until she turned 16 and told her mother.
He pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
The girl and her parents claimed the hospital was negligent in hiring, supervising and employing the young man.
The appeals court says the hospital couldn't have known or prevented what happened.
