WARREN COUNTY, N.J. -

A local community wants to honor its veterans.

Warren County, New Jersey will be holding a Veterans Recognition Ceremony in May.  County officials are looking for area veterans to honor at the ceremony.

Officials are particularly searching for newly returned veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“It’s very humbling that we have the opportunity to honor our county’s war veterans. The Freeholder Board is pleased to be able to thank them and their families for their service and sacrifices,” said Freeholder Director Everett Chamberlain.

You can contact Warren County at  908-475-6580 or 800-554-8540 or by filling out an application.

Applications, submitted by a veteran or on behalf of a living of deceased veteran, are due by April 27th.  Both current and former residents are eligible.

Since the program began in 2003, 1,950 wartime veterans with ties to Warren County have been honored by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
