You may have noticed some snow fell overnight.

It didn't amount to much in the Lehigh Valley but it's a heck of a different story in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

A late season storm dumped nearly six inches of snow across the Warren County landscape turning neighborhoods into winter wonderlands.

"I wasn't expecting it. They've been saying every day, we're gonna get snow, gonna get snow and then I woke up today and we're in a snowday," high school student Katie Hutton told us.

Schools were closed but Hutton and John Sherr would gladly trade in their shovels for textbooks. A day off today means one less day of Spring break.

"We already got one day taken off for the snow days prior from the hurricane and now they're going to tack on another day for today," Sherr said.

While classes took a break the snow became a morning battle for Hackettstown head of public works Scott Armstrong.

Overall Armstrong says the season has been light but is surprised with the snow totals from this recent storm.

This Sunday is the much anticipated Hackettstown St. Patrick Day parade.

The question is will the snow sink the celebration?

"It's the premier event for Hackettstown," parade organizer Jim Sheldon said.

He says not to worry whether rain, sleet or snow, the show will go on with hopefully a little Irish luck thrown in.

"Today gives us a little concern but Saturday 50, Sunday sunny and 50 so should be fine," Sheldon predicted.

Snow fan or not the advice of Annie Greenway could be what's needed until we hit those 70 degree May days.

"I don't sweat the small stuff, you can't change nature. If it's cold it should snow," she said.
