Police investigate stabbing in Phillipsburg
Suspect Robert Eve jailed on aggravated assault charges
Police have arrested a man who they said stabbed another man in Phillipsburg, N.J., early Thursday morning.
Officers were called shortly after 5:30 a.m. to the first block of Lewis Street for the report of an assault involving a knife. They subsequently found Justin Barona with stab wounds to both of his arms, police said.
Barona, 22, of Phillipsburg, was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill, Lehigh Co., for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police later identified Robert Eve as the suspect, who knew Barona prior to the incident. Eve, 36, also of Phillipsburg, fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
Eve was arrested Friday in Bayonne, N.J. He was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and committed to the Warren County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail.
