Upper level managers of the Phillipsburg Police Department will receive 1.8 percent pay increases, retroactive to 2012 and continuing through 2015, as a result of a salary schedule approved Monday night by the town council.
Police Chief James Faulborn’s salary will rise to $120,540 next year and reach $122,770 in 2015.
Salaries for other upper management include sergeant at $99,807 in 2014 and $101,653 in 2015; lieutenant at $106,175 in 2014 and $108,139 in 2015; captain at $114,454 in 2014 and $116,572 in 2015.
The raises are the same as the 1.8 percent increases the department’s patrol officers received.
The department serves the town’s population of slightly less than 15,000 people, according to the 2010 U.S. Census.
In his report, Chief Faulborn and his aides told the town council the department has received a $25,000 grant for a program designed to help juvenile offenders find direction in their lives by working under police supervision in community service projects that include cleaning up parks and building projects. It is the second year in a row they have received the grant.
