NEWARK, N.J. -

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie continues to be courted privately to jump into the 2012 presidential race, but said he's only interested in having Mitt Romney secure the Republican nomination.

Christie told George Stephanopoulos of ABC's "Good Morning America" he hasn't changed his mind about not entering the race.

Christie predicted Romney's sputtering campaign will regain its momentum and that he will be the clear front runner by April.

Six days before crucial primaries in Michigan and Arizona, new polls indicate it's all tied up in Michigan between Romney and Rick Santorum, with Romney leading Santorum in Arizona.

Polls released last week in Michigan indicated Santorum with a slight lead over Romney.

Santorum surged in state and national polling after sweeping the Feb. 7 contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

Looking ahead to the general election, NBC News-Marist survey indicated President Barack Obama holding double digit leads over his GOP competitors in hypothetical November match-ups, with Obama slightly trailing the leading Republicans in Arizona.

Christie did his live television interview Wednesday morning before a town hall style event in northern New Jersey, where he will begin to sell his $32.1 billion budget to New Jersey residents.
