New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and challenger Barbara Buono squared off in their first debate Tuesday night.

The nationally known Christie is seeking four more years at the helm of the Garden State.

Buono, a Democratic state senator is looking to unseat the Republican.

Christie promised to focus on the same principles and style of leadership during a second term.

“Here's what the people of New Jersey will know, I am who I am and I am not going to change and I think they are comfortable with the leadership that I have provided over the last four years in the state,” said Gov. Chistie

Buono said Christie's promise of more of the same is a reason to vote him out.

“That's a major difference between this governor and myself. I believe millionaires should pay their fair share and fund middle class property tax relief, he doesn't. I will never balance my budget on the backs of the middle class and the working poor as this governor has done,” said Buono.

Buono is facing an uphill battle. Major polls show large leads for Christie.
