River restoration project in NJ earns national award
A river restoration project is earning high marks in New Jersey.
Friday the Musconetcong River Restoration Partnership was on the receiving end of the national Coastal America Partnership Award.
It's one of the highest level awards given by the federal government for environmental partnership efforts.
The group was recognized for its dam removal and riverbank restoration along nearly three-and-a-half miles of the Musconetcong River in Finesville.
In 2011, the partnership removed the Finesville and Riegelsville dams.
Members are working to remove more dams in the future.
The Musconetcong River watershed includes portions of Morris, Hunterdon, Warren and Sussex counties.
