Two men charged with series of Hunterdon County burglaries
Two 24-year-old men have been arrested for their alleged roles in multiple Hunterdon County burglaries.
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III and New Jersey State Police Sgt. Mike Rosica on Wednesday announced the arrest of Daniel Moore of Alpha and Justin Britt of Bloomsbury on multiple charges including burglary, weapons, and drugs.
Kearns said the investigation began on Monday, Dec. 17, when police responded to an alarm sounding on Woolf Road in Alexandria Township. Subsequent investigation revealed that the rear door of the residence had been forced open, activating the alarm.
Kearnssaid an alert resident provided a description of a vehicle observed in the area and State Troopers from the Kingwood Station and Perryville Station immediately canvassed the area searching for the vehicle. Trooper Kenneth Simkovich from the Perryville Station located a vehicle matching the description which subsequently led to the arrest of two individuals.
Information obtained during the investigation led to numerous charges including multiple residential burglaries, thefts, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, which occurred in Alexandria Township and Holland Township, said Kearns.
Further investigation by the troopers and detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force led to the recovery of several weapons that were stolen in Holland Township and recovered in Pennsylvania, according to Kearns
Britt and Moore were subsequently lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail awaiting a first court appearance.
Kearns said, “I commend the resident that observed the suspect vehicle and was intuitive enough to provide the information that assisted the police in this case. I also commend the Troopers and Detectives that worked together to close the many open cases perpetrated by the two defendants.”
Anyone with any information regarding Britt and Moore is asked to contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit at 908-788-1129. All calls are kept confidential.
