Wildwood tram car fares to rise this summer
City to continue offering free beach access
"Watch your wallet, please."
There's some advice for beachgoers on Wildwood's Boardwalk used to riding the historic tram cars for $2.50 and hearing the repeated announcement to "watch the tram car, please."
The price of a tram ride will rise to $3 this summer.
The hike is needed partly to replace at least one of the engines on the eight cars, said Patrick Rosenello, executive director, Boardwalk Special Improvement District.
Five of the eight cars were built for the 1939 World's Fair.
Tram rides are 30 minutes along the Boardwalk in Wildwood and North Wildwood.
Last week, Wildwood officials nixed a proposal to charge beach fees. The town is one of the few in New Jersey to offer free beach access.
