House fire flares in Flemington

FLEMINGTON, N.J. -

Volunteer firefighters from several area companies were fighting a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Flemington, N.J.

The fire was at 19 Church St. in the borough. The occupants of the heavily-damaged house, a mother and her two young children, escaped safely and were taken to Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation.

Investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Investigation Unit and the Hunterdon County Arson Task Force are on scene conducting a preliminary investigation.

"At this time, the fire does not appear suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing,” said John Kuczynski, chief of detectives in the  Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
