Justin Robinson, New Jersey teen, gets 17 years in prison for killing Autumn Pasquale, 12
A New Jersey teenager said it was "a big mistake" when he strangled a 12-year-old girl and then left her body in a recycling bin last year.
That's what Justin Robinson, 16, told the judge Thursday before he was sentenced to 17 years in state prison for the aggravated manslaughter of Autumn Pasquale in Clayton, where they both lived.
Pasquale's body was found in a recycling bin near Robinson's home last October, 48 hours after she was reported missing.
In a two-hour sentencing proceeding, there was no new light shed on why he killed the girl, whom he had lured to his house with the promise of trading bike parts.
Relatives recalled Pasquale as a smart, warm girl who loved soccer, riding her bike and always wore mismatched socks.
A lawyer said Robinson had seen his father try to strangle his mother when he was younger.
