Polls are open for the primary election in New Jersey.

Voters have until 8 p.m. Tuesday to select the candidates who will run in the November election.

The race for governor has already started, at least in the form of TV commercials, because Republican Gov. Chris Christie and Democratic N.J. Sen. Barbara Buono face only token opposition.

Buono's competition is Troy Webster, who's an aide to East Orange Mayor Robert Bowser.

Conservative Seth Grossman is challenging Christie on the Republican ticket.

All 120 seats in the Legislature are also up for election. Only 20 seats have contested primaries and most aren't close.

Two to watch are Democratic primaries in Union and Essex counties.
