POHATCONG TOWNSHIP, New Jersey -

James Kern III, mayor of Pohatcong Township in Warren County, has announced he will perform gay marriages.

"Today I am proud to announce that I will be able to preform gay marriages," said Kern in a news release Monday.  "I am pleased that New Jersey has finally decided to give all citizens the right to marry whomever they love.

"I also appreciate the governor withdrawing his appeal. This should signal this debate is now over in New Jersey and politics can be removed from this civil rights victory."

Anyone interested in having  Kern perform a ceremony should call 908-454-6121 or email the municipal clerk.
