HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -

Crews had a big mess on their hands Tuesday in Hackettstown, N.J.

According to police, a water main broke in the area of 110 Ferris Place.

During the water main break, a sinkhole formed.

The waterline was repaired Tuesday and after a brief outage, service was restored to about 20 customers.

No one was evacuated.

Officials said it wasn't clear if the sinkhole was already under the ground or if the water main break caused the sinkhole.

Ferris Place will remain closed between Deerfield Drive and Carter Terrace until further notice, officials said.

Another sinkhole opened up Thursday following a water main break in the 100 block of College View Drive. On Saturday, it continued to grow, causing part of a resident's driveway to collapse, police said.
