A federal judge ruled Monday that former Pa. Sen. Vincent Fumo will be re-sentenced November 9 after originally giving him 4-1/2 years in prison.
Senior U.S. District Judge Ronald Buckwalter issued the new date after originally giving Fumo the lesser sentence, which was far below the 15 or more years that were sought by prosecutors.
Co-defendant Ruth Arnao will be re-sentenced November 16.
A jury in 2009 convicted Fumo, 68, of defrauding the state Senate, a museum and a south Philadelphia nonprofit of millions. The Democrat was a wealthy power broker during his 30-year political career.
Fumo didn't attend the hearing. He's in custody in Kentucky.
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court ruled last month that Buckwalter ignored more than $1.5 million in losses and made other mistakes.
